Google Inc. is releasing its own Web browser in a long-anticipated move aimed at countering the dominance of Microsoft Corp.’s Internet Explorer and ensuring easy access to its market-leading search engine.

The long anticipated Google browser is finally getting released. The free browser, called “Chrome,” is supposed to be available for downloading Tuesday in more than 100 countries for computers running on Microsoft’s Windows operating system.

Google has announced the new browser on Labor Day holiday and has sent out a comic book to announce the new browser’s arrival.

Some key feature of Google Browser – Chrome

An open source platform including Google Gears integration

JavaScript Virtual Machine called V8

Special tabbed browsing functionality

Autocompleting & search powered address bar (similar to FF3?)

Incognito mode where “nothing that occurs in that window is ever logged on your computer”

Ability to launch web applications in browser windows

Advanced privacy / malware / phishing protection

While Google has taken a rather light and cartoonish approach to announce the arrival of its new web browser Chrome, it seems to have underscored the traditional rivalry between Microsoft and Google as it was just a week back that Microsoft unveiled the test version of Internet Explorer 8.

Google has previously supported Firefox browser( by Mozilla Foundation) to create more competition for IE and this support has helped Firefox to become the second most popular browser today. Google has also extended the contact till 2011 now.

In a blog post Monday, Google touted Chrome as a more sophisticated Web browser better suited for displaying the dynamic and interactive content blossoming on the Web as people migrate from television, radio and newspapers.

It seems Google has removed the download link as of now and are redirecting visitors to Google.com. But probably it would be available very soon.
